From Tuesday to Saturday, between 11AM and 7PM, ViniPortugal’s Sala Ogival de Lisboa is opened to visitors. Located in the Ministry of Agriculture premises in Terreiro do Paço (“Black Horse Square”), in elegant surroundings, you will be able to taste fine Portuguese wines offered by producers through their respective regional winegrowing commissions.
A selection of wines from three different regions changes every month (
see regional calendar here), and will allow the visitors to taste wines from all over Portugal. Some wines available for tasting can also be purchased by visitors at Sala Ogival de Lisboa and ViniPortugal’s staff is always on hand to provide information of the wines currently available.
The Sala Ogival de Lisboa is the first permanent space devoted to promoting Portuguese wines, preceding its sister location in Oporto, which opened on February 7
th, 2007 in the Palácio da Bolsa in the historic area of the city. The Lisbon space was ceded by the Ministry of Agriculture, and an investment of €200,000 was spent in renovating the tasting rooms, designed by the same architect responsible for the Portuguese Wine Pavilion in Expo’98.
